training and development

It is Housing 21's policy to actively promote opportunities for development and training to enable members of staff to improve their performance at work. We have a professional Learning and Development Department that is dedicated to delivering appropriate training and development to employees in line with the needs identified by a member of staff and their line manager. Financial assistance and study time are considered for all employees who have completed the six month probationary period and whose development plan identifies a requirement for professional evaluation through college attendance or open learning.

Internal training will begin with induction and will continue throughout the period of employment. In addition to ensuring that the member of staff has all the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their current role, the organisation is also committed to assisting people to develop to their full potential.

Whilst Housing 21 recognises its responsibility for the training and development of our staff, we also believe that individuals should take personal responsibility for their own development. We believe that individuals are best placed to identify any training and development needs that they may have relating to their current role. Staff are also encouraged to plan for their future both within Housing 21 and beyond.

"It's a pleasant and secure place to live. One can get involved in social occasions or not - there is no pressure."
