Your Court Manager
Formerly called your Warden, your Court Manager will, in most cases, be your first point of contact with Housing 21. Some of our Court Managers are full time, others are part time. You will be advised of your Court Manager’s working hours if s/he is not full time. When s/he is off duty, you can still get assistance from the twenty-four hour service provided by Oldham Helpline.
The Role of Your Court Manager
Your Court Manager is there to ensure your safety and well-being. S/he will make daily contact unless you ask otherwise and will offer help and advice when needed. The daily contact will usually be via the intercom system unless there is a need for a home visit. S/he will also keep up-to-date contact details for each tenant which can be used in emergencies.
All tenants are entitled to the same level of support so your Court Manager cannot provide personal care to any one person or do shopping, collect pensions or prescriptions etc. Under the Housing 21 Service Promise, s/he will help you to access any additional help you may need.
An important part of your Court Manager’s job will be to encourage participation in social activities both on and off court and to help develop services and activities which will provide the opportunity for older people living in the wider community to take part. Although your Court Manager will encourage social gatherings, s/he is not employed to organise them. They are generally best run by the tenants themselves, ideally by forming a social club.
Support Plan
As part of the court manager service a support plan will be completed with you shortly after moving in. These are designed to identify where you may require extra assistance or advice. Your court manager will assist with completing the support plan and co-ordinating if extra help or linking in with new services is required.
Emergency Alarm System
The pull cords in your home are connected to the alarm system so that you can summon help. The Court Manager is able to hear and speak to you over this system. Oldham Helpline staff monitor the alarm system when the Court Manager is off court.
