How to get involved

Annual Court Consultation Meetings

There is an annual meeting on every court when we report to you on our performance over the past year, outline what changes there might be over the next year. We seek your views on what you would like to be done on your court from major works through to more social activities etc.

Tenants Association

We encourage tenants on all courts to form a tenants association. Sometimes it can be easier and more forceful for you to get your points across by acting as a group, rather than on an individual basis. The court manager can explain how to go about setting up a tenants association at your court, if one does not already exist.

If you would like a copy of our Tenant’s Association Handbook please download a copy here.

Court Voice

We recognise that not all tenants wish to have a formal group like a tenants' association on their court. There may however be one or two tenants on a court who are happy to act as representatives for the court. Court Voices receive the same information as tenants associations such as tenant forum papers etc. The Court Voice for a court will work with the court manager to ensure issues are dealt with and tenants kept informed.

Housing 21 committees

Tenants are represented on the housing services committee and on our management Board. These are the main policy making bodies of the organisation, and we think it is important that tenants' views are taken into account at these levels.

Regional tenant forums

These forums discuss current issues of interest to tenants and make their views known to the housing services committee. The regional tenants' forums elect members to be considered for the housing services committee.

National Tenants Conference

Tenants from across the country attend a national conference each year where we together identify future priorities for Housing 21. Tenants shape the agenda and elect a chair for the conference.

If you would like a copy of our National Tenants Conference Report for 2006 please download a copy here.

Readers Panel

This panel is made up of a group of tenants who check any documents that will be read by other residents to ensure that they are in clear English and make sense.

Tenant Inspectors

Tenant inspectors are tenants who have been trained to inspect Housing 21's services.

Focus groups

From time to time, we ask groups of tenants to come together to look at something we are doing to ensure we take tenant views into account e.g. a new design guide or redesigning the newsletter.

Information station

We have a database of over 300 tenants who are willing to be consulted on a variety of topics relating to Housing 21 business and through a number of different involvement methods of their choice.

Tenant satisfaction survey

Every two years we randomly select about 5% of tenants across the country who are asked, by an interviewer, to answer questions about Housing 21 services. The results are published so that everyone can see if the general view of our service is improving or deteriorating.

As you can see Housing 21 has a wide menu of opportunities for you to get involved and if you are interested please talk to your court manager or housing services manager.
