Dementia services

Our dementia services help people with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia to stay independent.

Affordable and tailored to individual needs, our services aim to improve quality of life by:

  • reducing confusion
  • encouraging social interaction
  • restoring self-esteem
  • regaining basic life skills
  • having fun.

All our services are based on current research by our dedicated dementia centre, so rest assured that your friend or relative is getting the best care possible.

Day care

Our dementia day care services offer support seven days a week providing activities and care in a friendly and stimulating environment.

The day centres provide a relaxed and safe setting with a structured activity programme, which includes both group and one-to-one sessions.

Activities include:

  • arts and crafts
  • cognitive stimulation therapy
  • computers
  • cookery classes
  • exercise and games
  • gardening
  • music appreciation and participation
  • outings and picnics
  • reminiscence groups and life histories
  • sensory group work.

These activities offer an enjoyable way in which to meet new people and take part in a variety of activities.

Home care plus

Home care plus delivers one-to-one support and care to older people with dementia allowing them to stay at home.

The service offers:

  • practical help
  • personal care
  • links to services, family and friends
  • help to pursue hobbies and leisure activities at home and in the community
  • regular visits whilst someone is in hospital or respite care.

Home care plus is provided by our Tresham Day Centre in Westminster.

Respite

Available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, our respite services help carers of people with Alzheimer's and dementia to:

  • rest
  • go to work
  • socialise

Our respite services are provided through:

  • attending a day centre, or
  • home based respite, provided in Westminster by the Carers' Dementia Support Service.

Our staff are carefully matched to carers so there is a strong relationship between support workers, family carers and the person with dementia.
