Housing 21 News
Older people's housing and care organisation Housing 21 has taken on more than 500 leasehold sheltered properties across the south east of England from James Butcher Housing Association. The 508 properties are based in 17 schemes across Cheltenham, Newbury, Henley, Sunningdale, Wokingham, Blackwater, Southsea, Bognor, Brighton, Eastbourne and five schemes based in Reading.
Stephen Hawley, leasehold manager at Housing 21, said: "Older people want a range of options when it comes to making decisions about where they want to live, and having the opportunity to buy a property within a sheltered housing setting should be one of the choices on offer." The acquisition of the new properties more than doubles Housing 21's portfolio of leasehold sheltered stock, which currently stands at 336 units across 13 schemes in England. ENDS Notes to editors: Housing 21 provides housing, support and care services for older people in England.
