Working in partnership with Oldham MBC
Housing 21 and Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council launched the largest sheltered housing Private Finance Initiative in the country in late 2006.
Under the £430m agreement, Housing 21 will oversee the refurbishment or rebuilding of around 1,500 sheltered and extra care schemes for older people. Bullock Construction, our building partner, has now started work and this part of the project will take around five years to complete. Housing 21 will then manage the housing and provide support services for the residents under a 30 year contract.
By working in partnership we will change the face of sheltered housing in the borough, ensuring that all the homes meet modern, quality standards by the end of the refurbishment period. The project is not just about bricks and mortar, though. It's about improving the quality of life for older people in Oldham.
As a leading provider of housing, care and support services for older people, Housing 21 is looking forward to working with Oldham council and other local partners to make choice and independence a reality for the older people of Oldham.
