Extra care housing
Housing 21 listens - we listen to all our stakeholders, our residents, our local authority partners, health and social care providers. It is through this listening approach that we attract substantial support from influential partners - for instance in 2005/6 we were the largest recipient of funding from the Department of Health and the Housing Corporation for specialist accommodation.
We have now developed 26 extra care schemes with many more in the pipeline. We are working with more than 35 local authorities who like our flexible and responsive approach in providing this popular model of supported housing where residents enjoy the benefits of their own home yet in a communal scheme where 24 hour care and support is available should they need it.
We offer leading edge design with flexible neighbourhood care and support services. We provide design and technological solutions (see Enabling independence through design and technology) for older people with dementia. Housing 21 offers a holistic housing and care service that is cost effective and responsive and we provide a real community resource from our buildings linking with local schools, businesses and hospitals.
